Cook with love.
Eat with Intention.
This cookbook started with a dream. Dr. Garrett’s grandmother showed her a blue primrose — small, unassuming, and full of quiet power. It sent her down a path connecting the herbs and foods of her Southern Black American and Caribbean heritage to the clinical science she spent years studying.
As a result, she uncovered recipes for the postpartum moms who feel depleted. For the women managing prolapse and were told to “Just do Kegels”. For those who experience leaks when they laugh and were told, “that is just how it is.”
Every person deserves to know that their plate is one of their most powerful tools. The recipes in this cookbook is a way to understand your body more deeply. A way to walk into your next appointment better informed and better equipped to advocate for yourself.
Our ancestors were not cooking poorly. They were surviving with brilliance. This book is what happens when those two worlds finally meet at the same table.
